Perfectionism is poison to your dreams.
I was sitting across from Isobel today. Our laptops were propped open in front of us. The heat wave continues here in the Northeast, so we sought refuge in the AC of a local cafe. We timed it so we'd miss the lunch rush. It worked—we were easily able to snag one of our favorite tables by the window.
It's a big week for each of us. We both have project launches underway.
Today was draft day. While it has nothing to do with sports, it has all of the same "are you sure??" moments before making decisions that feel final. They're rough drafts, so nothing's really final... but in the game of public perception, you only get one shot at a first impression. Sure, you can make changes thereafter, but simple ones. Because you can only influence the next play, not the previous. So a botched headline of an announcement email could mean a majority of folks won't read any follow ups.
Isobel looked up at me. She bulged her eyes wide and stretched her mouth into a smile that I took to mean "eeek!" I winced empathetically, giving my best "I know—same."
We've been talking to each other about project plans for a while. There's been a lot of questions swirling around about landing pages, forms, confirmation emails, links, messaging sequences and a whole lot more. But you know something? Isobel hit the big, scary button today and set the wheels in motion that make it real with a post teasing her big announcement.
Game on.
I'm so psyched for her!! And right there next to my pride is gratitude for a much-needed reminder: ship it, then shape it. You have to make it real before you can make it better.
So, with that in mind, I can't wait to share more with you about what's next for Becoming Unobstructed! Stay tuned, more to come this week.
onward.
