My eyes are closed but I can still see the sun.
It's early-ish, and Isobel and I are at the lake on the dock. She's doing some impromptu yoga and I was following along with my best sun salutations. At least, I was for a bit. Then I drifted into some self directed stretching, and now I'm lying face-down on my towel in the sun, focusing on the sound of the breeze moving across the water and the feeling of it slipping over my back.
I lift my head, peeling my cheek from the towel, so I can rotate and lay it back down. My neck's been super duper stiff so I'm trying to elongate my shoulders and see what kind of stretch I can get.
This. Feels. Amazing.
I... I could do this every day.
"Ready?"
It's taking me longer to respond than I'd have expected. Laying here, with the slight up-and-down motion from the choppy waves, just feels so damn good. I could maybe take a nap—
Before I can argue with myself anymore, I pop up.
It's time for a dip. The towels will be here when we get back, and sprawling out in the sun will feel that much better.
